Flying Pickets - a cappella?

[edit]

Is it just me, or does the Flying Picket's rendition of this tune sound as though it has been augmented by a sampling synth, such as the Fairlight CMI? It may sound like "a cappella", but I'll wager that it wasn't (strictly speaking..) Paul-b4 12:59, 19 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose it depends on how strictly one defines "a cappella". It does sound to me as well as if some of the vocals are samples. However, The Flying Pickets is known as an a cappella group, and even if sampled, it's still all voice. Either way, a darn good rendition of the a good song. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.228.6.126 (talk) 07:45, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:YazooOnly you.jpg

[edit]

Image:YazooOnly you.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I believe the image's description is now valid and that this bot warning can be deleted. Anyone able to comment/decide? --Antreid (talk) 23:35, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Clarke Has Denied DM-Offer Rumor

[edit]

In this interview Clarke denies that he offered this song to Depeche Mode:

So I've removed it.

Mireille Mathieu version

[edit]

Like The Flying Pickets and Enrique Iglesias, the French singer Mireille Mathieu recorded a cover of this song in 1984, first a French adaptation called On est bien then a German one entitled Mon amour (in den Armen deiner Zärtlichkeit). This could be indicated in the article. -Mike (Oct. 22 2015) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.194.170.188 (talk) 15:25, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Other cover versions

[edit]

There's at least 2 cover versions missing. Gregorian for one and another female singer - which could have been in the 1990s. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.64.3.221 (talk) 02:47, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Other Reviewers than Allmusic...

[edit]

I am concerned at the proliferation of quotes from AllMusic on Wikipedia. For instance, in this article the only review quoted of the original version of the song is one from AllMusic and part of it is misleading in the extreme - simply giving an opinion that Alison Moyet's singing style was the same as Anne Peebles (Ms Moyet has never quoted Ms Peebles as an influence) and then stating that Anne Peebles was a '70s' star - when her success was not only in that decade. I have removed this statement as solely quoting such opinions in an encyclopedia is really not helpful to music scholars. It really is not good to quote AllMusic writers' opinions in this way. Wikipedia is starting to seem like an advertisement for that company. Please can we cite other reviewers?
