It it actually of "Simcoe Street Oshawa", the Main North-South Routing from Oshawa! I'm also going to note that Highway 2 was once the number of Canadian Highways (Including the TCH) from Windsor to Halifax. Bacl-presby 17:59, 25 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oshawa is confusing as both roads use county-road style signage with the '2' numbering.

The numbering pattern for Québec/NB/NS is:

Québec had renumbered its roads so as to give the small numbers to the big roads. The section of #2 through «le West Island» was widened to four lanes as #20, which later crosses out of Montréal to the south shore as une autoroute. The old chemin du roi ran on the north shore to the infamous Pont de Québec (in Ste-Foy, Québec, west of la ville de Québec) and is now renumbered arbitrarily.
New Brunswick, when bypassing roads with freeway, moves the old number to the new road. While the new routing is substantially different (and about 50km shorter), the Highway 2 designation on this portion of the Trans-Canada Highway still remains in use.
New Scotland keeps the old designation on the original road and adds 100 to derive the number of the bypass road. 102 is therefore a freeway to Halifax (bypassing 2, which nonetheless still exists as the original highway).

Highway 2 is therefore still the number of some road on this route in all except Québec.

In Ontario, the designation "county road" does not exist within the old (pre-1998) limits of the city of Kingston as the severed city of Kingston, town of Gananoque and city of Brockville were not represented in the respective county governments. A county road-like designation "Kingston 2" appears in suburban areas which were annexed to Kingston on January 1, 1998 but in the city proper the old highway signage has not been replaced nor tampered with in any way, as all "county road" designations ended at the old city limits.

Not sure whether claiming "* Frontenac County: County Road 2 except in the city of Kingston" makes sense as there is actually (as of Jan 1, 1998) nothing on the old Highway 2 in Frontenac County which is not within the new, insanely-far amalgamated Kingston city limits (which stop at the county line, in farm country, 5km short of the middle of Gananoque). Nonetheless, the county road-style "Kingston 2" designation only exists on signage *outside* the old city limits but within what had been Frontenac County. --carlb 15:57, 22 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

By 2010, the historic King's Highway signage is gone from Kingston (proper) and a county-road style "Kingston 2" appears in all three former municipalities (Kingston, Kingston Township, Pittsburgh Township) in Kingston. The closest "Highway 2" marker still standing is at King & Stone streets (westbound) in Gananoque as of 2012. --66.102.83.61 (talk) 07:25, 12 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
