Geography[edit]

Opava is located on the Opava Hilly Land (Czech: Opavská pahorkatina; a part of the Silesian Lowlands) on the Opava River (left tributary of the Oder River) and Moravice River (right tributary of the Opava River).

Historical names in history section[edit]

From the page "Duchy of Troppau" "The duchy was created from lands split off from the Margraviate of Moravia before 1269[1] by King Ottokar II of Bohemia to provide for his natural son, Nicholas I, Duke of Troppau, as he was henceforth known"

So from its inception as a Duchy, it was known as Troppau- Should not the Danzig Rule apply here- to remove all German traces from history is NPOV; to call it the "Austrian Duchy of Opava" is as inaccurate as saying the "Duchy of Warschau" after 1918 it should rightly be then called Opava. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rikaard (talkcontribs) 02:11, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Link to synagogue[edit]

There was once a synagogue in Opava and it has an article (Synagogue in Opava). The synagogue should be mentioned here at least with See also.--Wanfried-Dublin (talk) 09:42, 10 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
