Why only "national" open tournaments? Why not "all" opens?[edit]

I am curious: Is there a reason that this page about "open golf tournaments" has to be about national opens? I was adding some wikilinks on here to Wikipedia pages about several open golf tournaments. It took some research to find those pages. Almost immediately after I made the last change, I noticed that in the revision history, somebody had eliminated links I had posted earlier (with the comment "national opens only"). After seeing that, I "undid" my change, putting it back to how that other person left it. I could understand there being a separate article devoted to national open golf tournaments, but the title of this article sounds like it is in regards to open tournaments in general. I may be missing something, so I would appreciate some enlightenment. Is there a better article for me to post those wikilinks? Thank you. InforManiac (talk) 18:49, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will respect the other editor's post and leave page as is. I will just create a template with the various Wikilinks that I compiled, and place it at the bottom of the page. InforManiac (talk) 04:39, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't. It would serve no purpose. wjematherbigissue 06:56, 8 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please delete the template that I had created prior to your above message (since you nominated the template for deletion). I am not authorized to delete it. Such a template would serve a purpose, but only for people like me, who are fans of the history of golf and the world of golf. I only wish somebody would have answered my previous question before I went through the trouble of getting those links together again (because I waited almost two months for an answer). I was trying to respect the wishes of Tewapack by leaving the page's format as he had it. Open tournaments are not just national tournaments, but whatever. I just wanted to put a template at the bottom of the screen, so that it would be out of the way, but if somebody wanted a list to the Wikipedia pages about "open" golf tournaments from around the world (both past and present), all they would have to do is click the "expand" link. Such a template serves absolutely no purpose to the casual golf fan, but it offers a lot to somebody who wants to do some serious research. Please feel free to delete the template if you want to. You'll get no arguments from me about it. It only took about half a minute for me to research all those wikileaks. InforManiac (talk) 04:22, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistent treatment of Women's Opens[edit]

Why are only two (and two relatively minor) open tournaments for women listed here? If any are to be listed, shouldn't the most important ones by far, the Brtish Women's Open and the U.S. Women's Open, be included? Conversely, should there be a separate article devoted to women's open golf tournaments? 2600:1004:B15D:B6F9:6C13:AFB:27C:5CE6 (talk) 22:49, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
