Article redevelopment underway[edit]

I'm currently drafting a new, and considerably expanded, version of this article in my user space at User:Nick-D/Drafts12. Contributions and comments from other editors would be very welcome. Nick-D (talk) 00:59, 24 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take this one. Parsecboy (talk) 20:03, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mostly minor nitpicks:

  • Image copyright tags look good
  • Is there a map that could be used?
    • I've just added a map of northern Norway and Sweden which shows the main locations mentioned Nick-D (talk) 10:03, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are a couple of dupe links that need to be fixed
    • Sorry, which ones? I've fixed linking Royal Navy twice. Nick-D (talk) 10:03, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd recommend translating the German ranks
    • I've swapped 'Großadmiral' to 'Grand Admiral' as the translation is direct. There doesn't seem to be a clear equivalent for 'Konteradmiral' in this era. Nick-D (talk) 10:03, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • I'd probably just translate it to Rear admiral. In those days, Konteradmiral was the equivalent of a 1-star (the USN's Rear admiral (lower half), for instance), but I don't know that that level of specificity is all that necessary here. Parsecboy (talk) 13:08, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'd link battleship, aircraft carrier, engine room, Flare (countermeasure), destroyer, flak ship
  • "be simpler conduct" -> "simpler to conduct"

Nice work as usual. Parsecboy (talk) 21:27, 18 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks a lot for reviewing Nick-D (talk) 10:03, 19 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
