Photo of Statue

I've seen you've asked for a photo of the statue of Opo. I've just looked and found one here:

Once I have a chance I'll try to upload it myself, but I'm must speak to someone or read more about how to do this as I'm relatively new to editing/writing for Wiki, and haven't done this as yet.

For Your Information

Opo is another 'soliary socialbe dolphin', simular to Dave the dolphin that resided off the Kent Coast for 18 months until Nov 2007 when see disappeared; the wiki article that I've recently edited/updated.

This subject is something I'm interested and have knowlege of. I myself with try to source some references for this article to try and help.

Burial[edit]

What does "buried with full Māori honours" actually mean?203.80.61.102 (talk) 21:03, 15 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

a good question. One of Lee-Johnson's photographs shows her suspended by the tail from an excavator or similar prior to being lowered into her grave. Chrismorey (talk) 11:43, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Death[edit]

Persistent local rumor is that she was killed (possibly with explosives) by locals who had advance knowledge of the impending protection order given them by a local Justice of the Peace. I know the name of the deceased JP alleged to be concerned but will not publish it here. Reasons are variously given as fears that she was harming fisheries and to resentment that the peace of Hokianga was being destroyed by her fame (this latter echoed by Maurice Shadbolt in his novel cited).
