Was Orangism a monarchist current?[edit]

The lede of this article conflates Orangism and monarchism, but the Dutch version contains no mention of monarchism. I therefore labeled the article {{disputed}} and unless a reliable source is found that calls Orangism a monarchist current, I suggest that the lede be rewritten. A check on the regents' power[edit]

@Arnoutf: I reverted your edit, because the fact that the Orangists wanted the Oranges as a check on the regent class's power is crucial to understanding what the current was. The point is that Orangism in the period of the Republic was never monarchist, favoring instead a hybrid constitution (Republic + Stadtholderate). Your assertion in the edit summary that the situation was symmetrical for the regents would require a reference. QVVERTYVS (hm?) 13:02, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I never suggested to add anything about the regents wanting a check on the stadtholderate. However the current line in the introduction that claims the Orangists wanted to check the regents power does indeed require a reliable source. Please provide one.
