ODST Pictures

[edit]

I have a few ODST pictures like this one: http://bungie.net/SlideShow.aspx?path=/games/Halo2&slideshow=Renders&slide=27 (Its a render of the ODSTs)

Anyway you guys can put them in because I am not good at that.

ODST Divisions

[edit]
  • Does anyone think that of besides the 20,000 man 105th Division, there is more ODST Divisions?

Answer: Yes. The UNSC can't just have one division of Elite Warriors.

Ackerson: ODST commander?

[edit]

I doubt that Ackerson is an ODST commander; the only evidence is the ODST's that were trying to kill the Chief during the MJOLNIR Mark V test, which itself doesn't mean anything beyond that he's got the pull to arrange that. He is on the UNSC Security Council, after all, and he's important enough to knuckle under a General.. Same thing with the Skyhawk, which is what Hasley was ordering him to call off at the end of the test. He's a high-ranking officer who arranged the test, but that doesn't mean that he's in direct control of the ODST's. As First Strike points out, he's in charge of special weapons projects and is based in ONI's CASTLE Base facility, making him a member of the Office of Naval Intelligence, not the ODSTs. He has pull as a high-level officer, but that doesn't mean he's an ODST commander. Peptuck 21:55, 16 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, some checking has confirmed something interesting: Ackerson is one of the officers in charge of NavSpecWar, which itself deploys troops on special operations, such as ODST and regular Marines. This explains why he apparently had indirect control over ODST units. NavSpecWar would also give him overriding command over ground units and ships, which was why he was able to do what he did at the test, setting up mines and launching that Skyhawk fighter. Well I think Col. Ackerson might just be in command of a ODST Battalion. Usually, Colonels are in command of Battalions. And he might be in command of the 3rd Battalion.

No unique dialog

[edit]

Is this correct? I recall them having a distinct Australian dialog in their quotes. I would clear this up myself but currently lack access to an xbox.

Nope. All of their voices are standard Marine voices. The Australian accent can also be heard being spoken my normal Marines. Peptuck 19:51, 30 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So I went into the game today to check this out. It appears all the hell jumpers use the same Australian accent. The phrases they use, however, are also used by the normal marines so it appears the hell jumpers draw from a smaller pool of quotes then the marines.
