This is very well written out, but should it be separated into sections?Cystopteris (talk) 23:01, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Orchardton Status change[edit]

"Its status was changed to castle in 2014, approved with Scottish heritage and government services"

Re the "citation needed" tag from December 2022, it may be worth noting that the listing for Orchardton House at Canmore (National Record for the Historic environment) retains the original name- <https://canmore.org.uk/site/162938/orchardton-house> as does the listing at Historic Scotland- <https://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB17079>

There appears to be no organisation named Scottish Heritage. "Scotland's Heritage" is a marketing organisation representing "over 800 top visitor attractions all over Scotland." What government services may have been involved is not clear.

The change of name from Orchardton House to Orchardton Hall in 2003, and subsequently to Orchardton Castle, would appear to have been for marketing purposes rather than to reflect the property's architecture and history. JF42 (talk) 15:00, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
