Percentage?

[edit]

I think the percentages that are used are incorrect. Normally, ties count as half wins and half losses. The percentages used seem inconsistent. Tell me if you want any help with it. Wilkyisdashiznit (talk) 05:55, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bowls

[edit]

I believe the second Pineapple Bowl came after the 1948 season and the second Rose Bowl came after the 1956 season. I don't really wanna mess with the spreadsheet.Wilkyisdashiznit (talk) 19:52, 22 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I believe the record for 1956 is wrong.Wilkyisdashiznit (talk) 17:44, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I fixed the mistakes. I can find no cite that Oregon State finished #19 in 1957. Wilkyisdashiznit (talk) 02:05, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If the "Mirage Bowl" is not an actual bowl game -- it was a regular season game relocated to Japan and called the Mirage Bowl for marketing purposes -- why include it in the Bowl Games column at all, even with a footnote? Citing a "bowl game" alongside a winless season seems a borderline NPOV violation, although I'm not sure in which direction.. Abdoozy (talk) 05:04, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Can we do a History of the Oregon State Beavers football since it's so long?--Levineps (talk) 01:56, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What I'd like to do is to move most of the information on this page onto the season pages. If someone wants to do more of a summary of the periods of time, I would welcome that, because the page is very windy. In that case, I think a History of the Oregon State Beavers football page might be a good idea. I would propose to add an interesting games section on this page.Wilkyisdashiznit (talk) 17:50, 11 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

External Link?

[edit]

Just to extinguish any conflict of interest complaints, I work for the Oregon State University Archives. That said, I have a great link to some historic images of OSU football teams on our Flickr site. Do you guys think this should be added? Neverware (talk) 19:52, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As an aside, please tell whomever puts together the media guide that the 1962 Idaho and Washington State games remain in the wrong order. Also, can you find a box score or other write-up for the 1962 Colorado State game? Please feel free to add photographs wherever you feel they would be appropriate. I will try to work on the season pages they correspond to in order to give you more places to post them.Wilkyisdashiznit (talk) 06:56, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The only thing that I have on the 1962 Colorado State game is the basic score, which is also wrong in the Media Guide. It was 25-14. I'll try to track down the editor of the guides and let them know about these mistakes. If you would let me know when individual season or era pages go up, that would be great. Until then, I'm going to hold off on adding the images. I'm working on getting some higher resolution images put into Flickr and the Wikimedia Commons, so hopefully we can use those. Thanks.Neverware (talk) 19:28, 15 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have done team pages for each of your pictures. They are by no means done. If you want to add something, please feel free to do so. Wilkyisdashiznit (talk) 06:11, 8 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page length

[edit]

What are we going to do about the length of this page, specifically the history section? As is, it is way too long. Would it be better to just rewrite that section?--Henry talk 03:32, 14 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I would suggest the option mentioned above under "split" and create History of Oregon State Beavers football to move the content to. Then reduce what is left to a paragraph on the first team/game, when/what conferences were joined, championships/conference titles/top 25 finishes, obviously Terry Baker, stadium timeline, the long losing season streak, coach timeline (keep it to "Bob Johnson took over the program in 1934 and went 32-16-2 in four seasons as head coach with a conference title in 1936"), years there were not teams and why (wars for instance), and maybe a few key Civil War game mentions such as the 0-0 tie and the years they didn't play due to prior rioting. Then have all that info generally in chronological order. For citations, I know I used the OSU media guide a few years back for updates on the Civil War (college football game), it is listed in the EL section. Heisman

[edit]

Would it be appropriate to add a "Heisman" section above the "All-Americans" section? Even though OSU only has one Heisman winner, it is the top honor given to any individual athlete, so it seems to me like it should be there.Ibleedorange14 (talk) 05:34, 18 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me. --ben_b (talk) 04:13, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conference Placings

[edit]

I added some conference history, but apart from the conference championships in 1907 and 1914, I don't know any other conference standings from 1902-1914. I changed the pre-1902 to "Ind." to match the years between the PCC and P-8/10/12, but the "n/a"s left are for years that I can't find a source for without looking up each school's head-to-head results (which we do have-- see the "Orange and Black" source on bottom of the page) ibleedorange14 01:23, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Beavers logo and uniforms.

[edit]

The current 2013 Beavers logo and uniforms should be used instead of the old logo / helmet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.192.243.233 (talk) 19:48, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rivals

[edit]

Taking the Washington Huskies down as rivals, not listed on Huskies page and Huskies Talk page suggests it shan't be listed. Jakobees (talk) 00:37, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Oregon State Beavers football

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Oregon State Beavers football's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Washington is content with its unofficial Northwest Championship. "It had to be enough," quarterback Cody Pickett said Sunday. "Everybody left us for dead. We had to rally around something."

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 18:58, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
