Reason for CBE?[edit]

The gazetting of the CBE does not give a reason for her award. The only current source that it was for work with the NZ Red Cross is an obituary so I have, for now, tagged it for a better source. I would expect there would be a contemporary source for the information. The website of NZ RC has no mention of her. Nedrutland (talk) 12:47, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, can't find it, unfortunately. Maybe contacting the NZ RC or the Scott Polar Research Institute would be helpful? It's the right time frame and the preview was informative enough to know that it is talking about Wilson and the CBE. The same wording (but in a different newspaper) is available here; "... bestowed mainly in connection with her work as hon sec of the Hospital Comforts Committee". Elsewhere there has been mention of the "New Zealand War Contingent Association",^[1]^[2] neither organisation is clearly linked with the Red Cross. Nedrutland I found this website which seems to clarify the matter: Next, perhaps, to establishing and conducting the Soldiers' Club in Russell Square, which was opened on the 1st August 1916, the most important work undertaken by the Association was that of the hospitality committee with its two branches—the visiting and the entertainment sub-committees. The title of the visiting committee was later changed to the hospital comforts' committee when this branch of the work was taken over by the New Zealand Red Cross. So the committee was operated by the NZ RC, it seems. Nice find with that clipping, btw. Enwebb (talk) 23:42, 17 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

For a moderately prominent figure, it is frustratingly difficult to find firm facts about her (the British Red Cross has excellent WWI archives on-line). I have edited her war service - please review and amend. Further tasks:

I'm a Yank so feel free to go over this and change any spellings/usages to British English. As for dmy that sounds good. Not sure how much more time I'm going to put into this article, though. In terms of amount of content needed and the amount of time to research and find sources, it's starting to tip the scale for me. I usually create an article that's a solid C class and then move on.
