Status as town

[edit]

Orlo Vista, Florida used to be a separate town. It was annexed by Orlando in 1974 because it is located between Orlando and Disney World, and Orlando wanted a straight shot to the theme park. In exchange for agreeing to the annexation, Orlo Vista's roads were paved, city water was piped in, and a new park was built. The annexation deal was negotiated and finalized by the last mayor of an independant Orlo Vista, Jack V. Butler (my father, as it turns out). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.84.26.82 (talk) 00:24, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
