He was not Greek

[edit]

I am surprised by this entry here. Hamdi Bey was a quintessential Ottoman intellectual, a citizen of the empire, born Muslim, and served the Sultan loayally all his life. What makes him Greek? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.77.162.23 (talk) 19:28, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

His father was NOT abducted. He was saved and taken in by the Ottoman state when orphaned at an early age, a common practice at the time. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.77.162.23 (talk) 19:32, 6 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kaplumbag Terbiyecisi

[edit]

Whoever came with the explanation of Osman Hamdi Bey's motivation and idea behind the painting seems to have just made it up. Obvious from the lack of any reference. There is a more obvious messege in the painting.

I assume the explanation on the The Tortoise Trainer is closer to what you think is the correct explanation. But neither article's content has any references. Tiptoethrutheminefield (talk) 20:31, 1 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Strange picture.

"Girl with Pink Cap (June 1904)". Sorry but I fail to see a girl, is it the correct name for the picture? 190.215.86.135 (talk) 01:21, 30 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]
