The right Otto Goldschmidt[edit]

I have replaced the image File:Otto Goldschmidt by Southworth & Hawes.png because although it is a fine example of American photography of the period, I am reasonably sure that the Otto Goldschmidt it portrays is not the Otto Goldschmidt who married Jenny Lind. Note how the Southworth & Hawes image differs from the newly-uploaded image and the later image of Goldschmidt: The man in the Southworth & Hawes picture has a bulbous nose, is clean shaven apart from a moustache, has a double chin, and has luxuriant wavy hair; the other two Goldschmidts, young and old, have a slender nose, side-whiskers and no double chin; and, perhaps most conclusively, the young, side-whiskered and straight-haired Goldschmidt seen with Lind c. 1850 was getting a receding hair-line, which the Southworth & Hawes chap dated 1851/2 did not suffer from. The apparent discrepancy was pointed out to me by User:Ssilvers, whose comments would be most welcome here. Tim riley (talk) 09:19, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am in full accord with Tim's reasoning. Thanks for looking into this. -- Ssilvers (talk) 15:18, 5 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've left a note to the above effect on the talk page for the image. Tim riley (talk) 08:52, 7 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
