Merger proposal[edit]

This stub is a duplication of Turkish frigate Ertuğrul. Therefore, it should be merged into it. CeeGee (talk) 10:28, 12 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suport merge - Definitely. The creator of this stub was probably unaware of the main article, and there is no reason to have both. --Matthew Proctor (talk) 23:53, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rename to Ottoman frigate Ertuğrul[edit]

I propose to rename the article to "Ottoman frigate Ertuğrul" since at her time she belonged to the Ottoman Navy. The Turkish Navy was established after 1923, the foundation of the Turkish Republic. CeeGee (talk) 19:31, 30 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

logical choice, former name was Ertuğrul (Ottoman frigate)]--Kimdime (talk) 05:19, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I asked an admin to move the page.--Kimdime (talk) 15:49, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
the terms "ottoman frigate ertuğrul" and "turkish frigate ertuğrul" are both correct. it's a matter of personal preference which one to use. while i personally prefer talking about the "turkish" frigate ertuğrul as her legacy is being the symbol of japanese-"turkish" friendship, not that of japanese-"ottoman" friendship, i'm not suggesting any name change for the article. i would rather just like to point out that the "turkish naval forces" official founding date is 1081, it's not 1923. today's "turkish" navy is a continuation of the same navy as the one that the ertuğrul belonged to.Senolgul (talk) 06:17, 24 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
