Katiya Parisista of the SYV

[edit]

Modak's list is

  1. Yūpalakṣaṇa
  2. Chāgalakṣaṇa
  3. Pratijña
  4. Anuvākasaṃkhya
  5. Caraṇavyūha
  6. Śrāddhasūtra
  7. Śulba
  8. Ṛgyajuṣa
  9. Pārṣada
  10. Āṣṭakāpūraṇa
  11. Pravarādhyāya
  12. Mūlyādhyāya
  13. Uñchaśāstra
  14. Nigama
  15. Yajñapārśva
  16. Mautrika
  17. Prasavotthāna
  18. Kūrmalakṣaṇa

The additions (besides two parts to Pratijña) seem to be Prātiśākhya, Yājñavalkyaśikṣā, Kratusaṁkhyā, Sarvānukrama, Śuklayajurvidhāna and Mantrabhrāntihara Sūtra; while Pārṣada is missing. Mautrika is definitely a typo; and Hautrika look wrong: it should be Hautraka. rudra (talk) 12:53, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, Monier-Williams gives Hautraka as the 16th P of K; and gives as a meaning of Pārṣada "a N. given to the Prātiśākhyas". rudra (talk) 13:08, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kashikar's list of parisistas ascribed to Katyayana is

  1. Yūpalakṣaṇa
  2. Chāgalakṣaṇa
  3. Pratijña
  4. Anuvākasaṃkhya
  5. Caraṇavyūha
  6. Śrāddhakalpa
  7. Śulba
  8. Ṛgyajuṣa
  9. Pārṣada
  10. Iṣṭakāpūraṇa
  11. Pravarādhyāya
  12. Mūlyādhyāya
  13. Uñchaśāstra
  14. Nigama
  15. Yajñapārśva
  16. Hautrika
  17. Prasavotthāna
  18. Kūrmalakṣaṇa

Kashikar adds six others as "other ancillary texts": a second Pratijña, Sarvānukrama, Yājñavalkyaśikṣā, Kratusaṁkhyā, Mantrabhrāntihara Sūtra and Śuklayajurvidhāna. So there is no disagreement with Modak. rudra (talk) 16:14, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The reason for the congruence is that the list is in the Caranavyuha (II.4). Kashikar notes that the Caranavyuha and the Pratijna (which also mentions other works) are therefore among the latest of the canon. rudra (talk) 17:03, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
