Folie[edit]

The nickname "Nanterre la Folie" has nothing to do with madness or with some revolutionary movement. A "folie" was in the eighteenth century a mansion built by a noble person, especially in the region of Paris. In that area which is nowadays the University of Paris X, there was a small castle named La Folie. -- Hubertgui (talk) 08:48, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ParisX.Nanterre logo.png[edit]

Image:ParisX.Nanterre logo.png is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Name of the university[edit]

The name "Paris West" has not to be used because the "Paris Ouest" expression (like a mark - I don't tranlate Apple in "Pomme" or Microsoft in "Microdoux") has not to be translated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 93.1.235.105 (talk) 08:11, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The former University of Paris X now refers to itself as Université Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense (note: not Université de Paris Ouest... and no dash in the name). See this page (in French, retrieved 2009-10-04).

Following the naming guidelines for French universities, I suggest Paris West University Nanterre La Défense as the way to render this name into English.

Merger proposal[edit]

I propose to merge Franco-German Summer and Winter Universities with third countries in Law Studies (The Nanterre Network) into Paris Nanterre University. As a program of this university I think that the network can easily be explained in the context of it. The Paris Nanterre University article is rather small and underdeveloped, so that the merging of Foo will not cause any problems as far as article size is concerned. Any undue weight concerns can be solved by pruning the inserted content, perhaps drastically. --Pontificalibus 05:33, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Support, including the pruning per WP:NOTDIRECTORY. Just did the same at collège de droit. Paris91 (talk) 16:22, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support, the Franco-German article is overly reliant on primary sources and hard to follow. Our coverage of this subject would benefit from reintegrating relevant information into the Paris Nanterre University article. signed, Rosguill talk 19:53, 31 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
