I am currently revamping this whole page - i am editing it slowly here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Aceboy/SNAHC and will move the changes across to this page when I have finished. Any help would be appreciated. Aceboy 12:43, 31 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Melbourne Sports Centre – ParkvilleMelbourne Sports Centres – Parkville – As silly as it sounds, the official name of this facility is indeed "Melbourne Sports Centres - Parkville", where "Centres" is pluralized. It is referred to as such by all of the linked external resources, including the facility's own website at https://melbournesportscentres.com.au/venues/parkville/ which says, "Melbourne Sports Centres – Parkville is one of Australia’s premier sporting venues..." Note the use of the singular "is" to refer to the facility itself, which is considered a single "centre," even though its name includes the umbrella branding "Melbourne Sports Centres." The result of the move request was: moved. Despite the previous RM (which was lacking participation), the modern sources presented here seem to meet WP:NAMECHANGES, and this name meets our preference for WP:CONCISE titles, is consistent with another of the properties listed on the official page ([[Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre ]]) and is in fact, "not completely stupid". Melbourne Sports Centres – ParkvilleParkville Stadium – I came across this page the other day and thought how strange the name sounded, and did a bit of digging to see if that was actually what Melbourne Sports Centres was referring to the venue as. Their about us page actually refers to the venue as Parkville Stadium, one of its three venues alongside Lakeside Stadium and MSAC. The official Facebook page also refers to the venue as Parkville Stadium, as does the Victorian Government Directory (who funded the venue's redevelopment) and multiple contemporary reports. There's contradictory info around (including from the venue's own website, which uses both names), but I agree with "Parkville Stadium" if for no other reason than that it's not completely stupid. Violetine (talk) 01:17, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
