French riots?

[edit]

Just wonder where the person who last edited this page (don't know it was as they weren't signed in) found the information on Chimbonda being involved in the France riots. I know he's signed/signing a new deal but the riots thing is not been in the news.

hello, i watched euro news and it briefly mentioned him and the french riots, dunno why, was not really listening, but there seems to be some sort of link. 11-11-2005 - peace

Enough to put it on th page though? Not really fair on the guy is it. Also I doubt he would have been involved as I'm sure he'd have been in Wigan.

also no mention of how he left bastia because of the fans taunting him with racist insults during a match. this was pretty significant. --216.165.11.242 00:22, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you can source this information, and are comfortable writing it up, why not have a stab at it yourself? I don't actually know much about this player, being a Hammers fan myself (I found his name on the cleanup list), so it's not really my area of expertise. However, if you can get some (sourced) information in, I or someone else would be more than happy to make any adjustments that need to be made. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A59919-2004Dec12.html there's info there about the incident itself. http://ins.onlinedemocracy.ca/index.php?name=News&file=article&sid=4170&theme=Printer & http://www.ushmm.org/newsfeed/anti/viewstory.php?storyid=905 have other bits. i can't find anything directly connecting his leaving bastia with the event, but i did see something about it on the french news on tv :-/ --216.165.11.242 11:51, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
also maybe a photo? http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/050918/8/dqfl.html --216.165.11.242 11:56, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've just removed" Former coaches all appear to say these accusations are false and, more important, all judge Chimbonda as a player who has a bad behavior, on and off the pitch." (in reference to chimbonda's claims of racism) as a cocktail of blatant pov and weasel words --Cruci 00:35, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(just updated my sig on that comment once I'd signed in)

NPOV

[edit]

Spurs fans have warmed to the French defender, especially after an outstanding defensive display in the 2–1 victory over Chelsea in which it later transpired he had played on with knee ligament damage resulting from a poor challenge by Frank Lampard in the opening minutes of the game.[neutrality disputed] [199140013] Which spurs fans? Does not conform to NPOV. Show me evidence from official spurs supporters club or something --ClubOranje (talk) 06:33, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reworded that passage to remove the broad claims about fans, and added a source for the incident. I've also noted a comment from Martin Jol as it pretty much sums up why the whole incident is worth noting on Wikipedia in the first place. Bill (talk|contribs) 12:59, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
