Nationality
[edit]His nationality was listed as Croatian-American, even though he was born in America, is a citizen of America, and resides in America. I edited this to read just American. And the reasoning I provided in the edit summary was a variation of the following...
Pat Miletich is NOT Croatian-American. His ancestry is Croatian, but that does not make him Croatian-American. Every single person in America, including native Americans (who's roots are in Asia), had ancestry from elsewhere in the world. Nationality, in the encyclopedic context, is not subjective. Pat Miletich is a citizen of the United States alone, he's American, period. If we don't stick to this standard, every single "American" featured on Wikipedia, right down to the last individual, will have to be hyphenated, Croatian-American, English-American, Polish-American, French-American etc.
The hyphenated "Croatian-American" may certainly pass in other places such as magazine articles, news papers, and television programs, but this is supposed to be a historically and factually accurate encyclopedic type article, equivalent to a scientific article, where personal feelings are irrelevant. Certainly by that standard he is simply American.
Now of course it wouldn't be inappropriate if somewhere else in the article it mentioned that he personally IDENTIFIES as Croatian-American (Assuming that's true), but under the "Nationality" section of this encyclopedic article, American must be the description used, in order to maintain encyclopedic accuracy. [edit]Also he graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1984, which also makes the 1968 birthdate questionable. http://bettendorfhigh84.com/
Pat was born in 1966, not 1968. You can use Iowa Courts Online as a reference for this information. I've seen the 1968 date of birth in several places and don't understand this.
Fighting style info
[edit]Wrestling should be added as one of fighting styles of Pat Miletich, as it is stated Biography, early life section. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Peterkenen (talk • contribs) 19:49, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

his first opponent, Yasunori Matsumoto, has an incorrect link with his name. there is an animation voice actor with this same name, and the link incorrectly points to that guy's wiki page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Urbanchampion (talk • contribs) 20:41, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
1968 birthdate incorrect
[edit]He is also a 1984 graduate of Bettendorf High School, which puts the 1968 birthdate as questionable. http://bettendorfhigh84.com/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.127.158.75 (talk) 04:23, 6 April 2010 (UTC)
In 1983 Mark Kerr and Pat Miletich were both 15 years old, according to Wikipedia. Pat was a senior and Mark was a freshman. Was Pat Miletich a scholastic prodigy or something? If this article is correct then he could have gotten a degree by age 18. Wikepedia rules! Leondegrance (talk) 00:42, 28 June 2010 (UTC)
MMA Record box change
[edit]As part of the MMA wikiproject, I'm going to be spending the next day or three in fixing Miletich's MMA Record Box so that it looks like most other MMA fighter entries in this wiki. Let me know if this is going to cause any problems. Dachknanddarice (T‖C) 21:10, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
- It took me a lot longer than I anticipated to update this record, thanks to RL issues. But I finally got it done.Dachknanddarice (T‖C) 17:08, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Croatian on both sides?
[edit]It was falsely assumed in the Miletich clan that Croatian blood ran on both sides. His mother's maiden name Gushwa descends from Couchois, a French name from an immigrant of the early 1700s. It was previously thought to be related to Croatian Gusa.
Age
[edit]This says he started training at 26 (which would be 1992 if he was born in 1966), but that he 'made his pro debut a year later' in 1995. Which would imply he was born in 1968.
But the article also says hes class of 1984, which would again mean he was born in 1966. Nswix (talk) 18:19, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
