General Opinion[edit]

I think this article should be a mid- or high importance article. This species is widespread and very familiar- I suggest that this species is the main one upon which all the hundreds of species that bear the informal name "Limpet" is based and comparisons will gererally be made to this one.

I suggest that this article needs a history including historical references to its use as food and reference to modern limpet eating- do people still eat it?

More info on how widespread it is and any info on how it spreads, its prefered habitat and its food would be good.

Thanks,

Edibleness is not really a neutrality issue. Citation needed, perhaps. In any case the article for Madeira has a nice photo of a plate of these prepared as food, and a Google image search for Lapas produces plenty more. Is edibility really in question? 82.35.199.68 (talk) 18:37, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Removed a contentious claim[edit]

Today I removed this phrase in the lede: " and is also found on the South Coast of NSW, Australia.[1]"

I think it is not appropriate to quote such an unlikely claim from a small "seashells of the world book" which is almost certainly erroneous in listing this as a fact.
