Adding two career experiences; correction to mother's name

[edit]

Two additional career experiences are notated in the eighth footnote, which references AfriClassical. I am requesting that we add this to the paragraph about Jennings' career, if that footnote can be utilized for multiple experiences:

In 1971 Jennings was selected by Arthur Fiedler and played in a series of concerts with the World Symphony Orchestra. In 1977 she performed in a series of concerts with clarinetist Benny Goodman, playing Rhapsody in Blue at venues including Carnegie Hall in New York City, Wolf Trap in Virginia, the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in Los Angeles, and Concord Pavilion in Concord, California.

Also, Ms. Jennings informs me that her mother's middle name was Marie, not Mary. Can this be corrected? Lindawriting (talk) 19:15, 17 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Lindawriting What's the published source for her mother's middle name? —C.Fred (talk) 02:16, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have her birth certificate which I will send to you with Patricia Jennings' permission. Lindawriting (talk) 03:08, 19 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Lindawriting Birth certificates and the like are not permissible sources. See WP:BLPPRIMARY for more on that. —C.Fred (talk) 11:15, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, and thanks for pointing me to that explanation, which I do understand. I have now found this resource on P.L.Prattis from the digital library of Howard University at https://dh.howard.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1158&context=finaid_manu - It states to cite it as Staff, MSRC, "PRATTIS, PERCIVAL LEROY" (2015). Manuscript Division Finding Aids. 159. https://dh.howard.edu/finaid_manu/159 - and it provides his wife's name as Helen Marie Sands. Can we use that? Thank you for checking. @Lindawriting Lindawriting (talk) 17:50, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Subsequent to my sending you the Howard University resource to document Jennings' mother's middle name, she has emailed me, unhappy that her word was not sufficient to correct her mother's name from Mary to Marie. She has asked me to stop and so I am withdrawing from this project. - @Lindawriting Lindawriting (talk) 19:13, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have just updated the name based on the citation you found at Howard University (which was perfect). I know that it can be distressing when a someone offers corrections, but for Wikipedia we have to have a publically accessible citation for all information provided. In that way it works quite differently from secondary sources (such as a newspaper, article or book) which can use primary sourced material from the subject themselves. thank you. Lindawriting (talk) 20:36, 20 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for correcting the mother's middle name. I remain withdrawn from this project yet I cannot help but hope that the two career experiences involving Arthur Fiedler and Benny Goodman can be added as they are documented in the AfriClassical resource. Thank you also for your help and for the kind "cup of tea." @Lindawriting Lindawriting (talk) 02:58, 21 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
