A fact from Patrick Carr (Boston Massacre) appeared on Wikipedia's Main Page in the Did you know column on 18 May 2006. The text of the entry was as follows:
Did you know... that Patrick Carr's statement that British troops were not to blame in the Boston Massacre was the first use of the "dying declaration" exception to the general inadmissibility of hearsay evidence?
I changed the names on the trial transcript after checking the source on the Boston Massacre Historical Society website. The surgeon testifying was John Jeffries, not Samuel Hemmingway, whose testimony was on the previous page of the trial summary. There is also no indication that the defense attorney questioning Jeffries was John Adams (and there were several counsel). If another source attributes this exchange differently then please cite it. The source linked (Boston Massacre Historical Society) is not scholarly or trustworthy site (nowhere on the site does it say who operates it and it is not linked to any institution. Plus- the link clearly says the surgeon's name is John Jeffries, while the article bizarrely names him Samuel Hemingway. I also removed a broken citation for the Samuel Adams fact.
