Birthplace anomaly[edit]

The infobox on the right hand side of the page states that Donovan was born in County Galway, Ireland while the main text states that he was born in Queenstown (now Cobh) in County Cork (150 miles away). Donovan would be a rare name in Galway but quite common in Cork, especially O'Donovan. Coolavokig (talk) 20:27, 23 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Baseball-reference has him born in County Cork, while Retrosheet has him born in Queenstown. Tough call on this one as those seem to be the top sources for players and where they came from. If I had to choose, I'd use retrosheet when it comes to birthplaces, but they are not always correct as I have found, especially when you're dealing with records as old as these.Neonblak (talk) 08:21, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
well Queenstown (now Cobh) is in County Cork so that means two sources are saying he was born in Cork, not Galway. Suggest if a verifiable Galway reference cannot be found birthplace should be changed to Cork.
Based on the information provided, I will go ahead and make the appropriate changes.Neonblak (talk) 19:30, 24 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
