Etymology[edit]

Discrepancy here -
Quote from the Pattani (Town) article: The word Pattani is derived from "Petani" in Malay which means farmer.

Quote from the Pattani Province article: The name Pattani is actually the Thai derivation of Patani (Jawi: ڤتنا); its original name means 'this beach' in Patani Malay language. In standard Malay, it is "Pantai Ini".
