Old Pauline" picture

[edit]

ok pauline is a womans namne and is most likely to be a mom At the moment, the article has a picture of Pauline posted with a description identifying it as Pauline from the "Saturday Morning Supercade" cartoons. Is this accurate? I'm inclined to say no, as the same image appeared in Nintendo Power's Mario Mania players guide for Pauline's video game persona. And I wouldn't think Nintendo would use the image from the cartoons, on account of it being less official. Kidicarus222 01:37, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's definitely from the old cartoons. Nintendo never did any official character artwork for the original Donkey Kong when they released it, outside of the cabinet's artwork and the Famicom version's cover art. The illustration (regardless of whether it came from Mario Mania or not) looks completely different to any artwork they did back then and is much closer to Pauline's Supercade design than any other incarnation of the character (in-game or otherwise). It has a very distinct western art style if you will. Most likely, NoA had no illustration available for Pauline when they made the guide, so they used one from the show. Latest Appearance

[edit]

Do you believe her latest appearance was in the Game Boy remake of Donkey Kong? Just answer the question whether it's true or not. --ZachKudrna18@yahoo.com

It was the most updated appearance she's had, but the old, blocky Pauline from the NES Donkey Kong technically appeared in Animals Crossing and WarioWare more recently. Kidicarus222 05:22, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Latest apperance is now Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis. Captain Underpants King 00:13, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Gamefaqs has an anti-leech mechanism set up, you can do what some articles do and mention that it requires a cut and paste of the URL, or find another source.--BigCow 20:50, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. Removed link for now. Hbdragon88 00:19, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History

[edit]

Pauline is almost certainly named after the very popular, and often parodied, The Perils of Pauline silent movie serial in which the title character is always a damsel-in-distress. Pauline's hair and costuming from the original Donkey Kong sprite design appear to match this period. Promotional art is more modern in style, reminiscent of Fay Wray's costuming in King Kong.
