I'll get to this shortly.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 23:20, 2 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • No DABs, external links OK.
  • Images appropriately licensed.
  • early-12th No hyphen because of 'ly' ending. A couple of different places
  • What do you mean by mural tower? Towers with murals? Don't think so, but that's not a term I can remember encountering before.
  • Nicely done, but I'm a little confused about the whole sand encroachment thing. Where was it coming from? Since the castle's up on a bluff, it couldn't be from the expected beach, so was it coming from the location of the current golf course? The bottom photo shows that the golf course is pretty damn sandy.

Apologies for the delay, I was working on the sand problem. I can't find anything else that describes it; I've checked back over one of the sources, and tweaked a particular word, but there's not much more. Elsewhere along the coast, I've got descriptions of the sand being blown up actually into the castles, and there's documentation in this case for there being *much* more sand at the site a couple of years ago. There's also a weak source which talks about a particular major sandstorm which lifted a lot of sand up off the beaches etc. up on to the hills, but I can't find a more reliable version of this... The other bits should now be done; I've added a link to mural tower (literally, wall tower). Hchc2009 (talk) 16:39, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hunh, who knew that sand could be such a problem? I've heard of subsidence, etc. forcing a building to be abandoned, but never sand. I'd love to have copies of the correspondence between the castellan and his lord about the issue, especially since a nearby castle had been earlier abandoned due to the same problem. Wonder if Blackadder had a hand in the whole thing, or perhaps Baldrick might be a better suspect.--Sturmvogel 66 (talk) 20:02, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Old Sarum had similar problems, if memory serves. It dried out, became very dusty and ultimately was abandoned... I'm sure Blackadder would have made some remarks about the situation, though, you're right! Hchc2009 (talk) 20:05, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
