Maswimelleu, thanks for the many edits, but we've also lost something in the process. This article was about the Tower Hamlets Independent Group. The People's Alliance are a split from THIG. So while this has become a People's Alliance of Tower Hamlets article, we should still have a THIG article. Indeed, the People's Alliance may not reach notability criteria, whereas THIG certainly do. Yeah, I think I got carried away in the process. The key thing to take into account is that THIG is a political grouping and not a party. People's Alliance is now a party. I think the best thing to do would be to take the redirect I just made and clone the old content (prior to me editing) to that one. Then edit the two articles in tandem. Another thing I considered was changing this article to something generic and descriptive like "Left-wing politics in Tower Hamlets" and cover both groups, plus the former Tower Hamlets First councillors who are members of neither. In short, here are three solutions I offer:
Have a PATH and a THIG article separately and link to them from the original Tower Hamlets First article. (the interim solution, which I am implementing now to avoid unjustified removal of content on my part)
Have a common "Left-wing politics in Tower Hamlets" (don't care about the specific name) and discuss all three groups, plus potentially Respect.
Delete this article and move its content to the Tower Hamlets First article, where we can discuss all its successors.
What I will do for now is restore the old content to the old page directory and we can continue the discussion here with a view to sorting out how best to cover post-THF politics in the Borough, which I think is notable as a general theme even if each individual party is not. Closing both articles would probably be unfair to PATH but not so much to THIG, as it appears THIG is the grouping that's 'loyal' to Lutfur Rahman still. PATH is supporting the candidacy of a different Mayoral candidate. Hence we could say that THIG is TH1st's interim successor until they re-register as a party. Wouldn't be inaccurate to lump them in with TH1st for that reason. I gather from some wider reading that THIG and Lutfur Rahman's friends utterly hate PATH now, so treating them as being broadly the same thing probably wouldn't reflect the dynamic on Tower Hamlets Council. In the meantime we can stick with the new status quo and revisit the situation if there's any change to the setup, such as if THIG registers as a party or once the 2018 election is out of the way. I don't think discussing them in the context of the 2014 election would be right as the didn't exist then, but I will expand upon them in the Borough Council article. I'll go ahead and set up Tower Hamlets London Borough Council election, 2018 this afternoon. Maswimelleu (talk) 16:58, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Let's give them a little more time to register as a party first. If they've not registered as one before the May elections then I'll propose a merge of THIG into a section of TH1st. Maswimelleu (talk) 18:51, 28 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
