Catholic oriented institutions

[edit]

What was the history of these Catholic oriented institutions during the Reformation and era of civic disability imposed on Catholics which extended into the 19th Century? I noticed that Blackfriars was refounded in 1921. Tom Cod 04:44, 23 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regent's Park College

[edit]

I think it is unfair not to mention that Regent's Park College, technically a PPH, has a much larger undergraduate community than any of the others and is hence much more collegiate than St. Benet's etc. This article also does not say that most of the undergraduates at PPHs are people who applied to Oxford in the usual undergraduate system but ended up pooled to a PPH by some quirk of fate (and often feel discriminated against by members of the university at large, because of assumptions concerning their religion and the low profile of the educational establishments of which they form a part). However, being a new user, I won't put in these changes myself. Much more information about PPHs is available in this report by the University on them (which will support and act as a source for what I have written above: http://www.ox.ac.uk/gazette/2007-8/supps/1_vol138.pdf Bill Hartram (talk) 15:57, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
