Clean-up and overhaul (proposed changes)

Before I edit and get reverted I'm going to list the changes I'd like to make:

1.Replace the bundle box art with the game case art.

Sounds good. Moogy (talk) 15:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

2.Re/write a plot summary.

Yeah, it needs one. Moogy (talk) 15:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

3.Add a "persona" section which explains story important personas.

I dunno, this might fall under {{gameguide}}. Moogy (talk) 15:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

4.Finish the character sections, includes; Adding more to the descriptions, and including images of char. which have none.

There was something else but I'll remember that later.

If there are no objections I'll start on September, 3. Oboro-garasu 17:15, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Agree. Persona 2 is a good model so you may refer to that format. And one more thing, which plural form of Persona should we use, Personas or Personae? -- Sameboat - 同舟 05:22, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Personae is the plural term used on the pages for Persona 1 and 2DarkAvenger280 07:51, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

Persona 3 uses the term "Personas." Moogy (talk) 15:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

I remembered what the last item was.

5. Add a section pretaining to the art book and possibly a track listing of the soundtrack which came bundled with the U.S. release.Oboro-garasu 06:06, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

If you're going to add something about the American release CD, it'd be best to add information about all of the CDs released that pertain to P3. Moogy (talk) 15:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm going to be doing a major overhaul for the characters section here, since compared to the other Megaten section, contains little to none in-depth info. I hope everyone's okay with that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.24.125 (talk) 05:19, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Shouldn't the American version of the OST be listed in Audio CD's? It was more of a sampler than an OST, but it's still, technically, an OST. 64.5.147.100 17:02, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

It was actually something more of like a "greatest hits" CD, instead of sampler. They did the same with DDS; Nocturne on the other hand had the entire Maniax OST instead. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.24.125 (talk) 00:42, 13 September 2007 (UTC)

How about restructuring(and adding info to) the article according to the japanese wiki article? I find the japanese article neater and more organized. Iron2000 11:31, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

I think the character sections are way too heavy and fail to meet fictional notability. I haven't finished the game so I can't comment on how to shorten them, but certainly I think there's a lot that can be. --Masem 13:59, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

I tried to keep it brief. :< If possible, maybe we ought to separate them, and create a page solely dedicated to the characters of the game. Thats the best way I can think of when it comes to keeping the main page neat, and keeping the characters informative. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.24.125 (talk) 05:39, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

I think a seperate character page would be a good idea. There is a lot of information that could be added to a character page, and it doesn't help that there are dozens of characters in the game. We could even extend the list to school characters, people in town. I second this motion! Zemalia 13:49, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

I third this nomination.

Should the genre for this game be changed from RPG (Role-Playing Game) to JRPG (Japanese Role-Playing Game) since that's the term that's being used more frequently in the gaming industry for RPGs from Japan, since those RPGs are usually on a completely different level than other RPGs, just like this one is? We could also explain why it's a JRPG and not an RPG, right? This is just a thought, if anyone agrees then please change it. - CoNfett1 (talk) 12:03, 16 June 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Persona 3 US.jpg

Image:Persona 3 US.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Idea for Seperate Pages

I think it would be a good idea to split this article into seperate pages, considering how long its getting. I suggest the following:

  • List of Persona 3 Characters
  • List of Persona 3 Minor Characters
  • List of Persona 3 Personae

That's all I can think of at the moment. I didn't want to change anything major like this until I got some feedback from the rest of the editors of this page. So, opinions? Zemalia 14:52, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

A list of Persona 3 Persoane would be...well, pretty godamn huge... Besides, character-specific, and plot-important Personae should be included with the characters, no? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.24.125 (talk) 03:42, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

I can see where you're coming from, and I will admit that I put the last bullet on there as more of an after thought than anything else. Perhaps we could at least expand a little bit more on their personae if we had a seperate character page, which is what I'm really proposing here. I'm still up for more feedback... Zemalia 17:04, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
I once did a list of personae page for the Persona 2 game and it did not go over well. It was claimed to be fancruft and showed little value outside of the game. It was subsequently deleted. I'm just letting you know. Character pages is an excellent idea though and they tend to go over well.EditingMachine 18:07, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
There's already a Persona 3 Persona list out there and awaiting your contribution of list of minor characters, but in megaten wiki. Such work in Wikipedia would end up in consensus of deletion. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk) 03:56, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

Spoilers in Character Sections

Recently it has been "decided" that spoiler tags are not necessary for the Playable Characters and Other Characters sections. The text currently in these sections gives away major plot points, including Chidori's death, Pharos/Ryoji's true identity, and Ikutsuki's motivations. The ending of the game is revealed in the protagonist's section. If someone who has yet to complete (or play) the game were to read through this section, their enjoyment could be significantly lessened. Recommend that either the spoiler tags be reinstated or the plot details excised from the character descriptions and moved to their own section (and marked appropriately). DjSyndrome 17:26, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

The reason I support the no spoiler tag is because the character section is listed under Plot Summary. It immediately indicates that there are spoilers that could be present. I would agree that the tags could be put in if, and only if, the characters were listed under their own section. For now, the spoiler tag remains unnessacary. Zemalia 18:30, 5 October 2007 (UTC)

FES section

Well, it goes without saying that this section needs to be expanded, but do you guys think we should add a picture of the FES cover for the section? The article could use another picture, and it would help illustrate the slight differences in the titles as well. Any other opinions? In the mean time, I've been generally cleaning the article up and adding references where I can. Its getting better, bit by bit. Maybe soon we can get it to B class! Zemalia (talk) 21:42, 22 November 2007 (UTC)

Also, would anyone object to me merging the FES section and media release section into one section called Versions and merchandise and add either a couple of pictures in there? From looking at other video game articles that are featured, this seems to be a common theme... what do you guys think? If no one responds in a couple of days, I think I'll just go ahead and do it... I feel like one of the few people left working on the article. *sniffle* Zemalia (talk) 19:02, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Personally, I think FES almost deserves its own article. I don't know a huge amount about the wiki process, but it was released as a separate game and contains its own storyline (Episode Aegis). Even if it is a "sequal" to Persona 3, other games that have sequels with separate storylines are typically given their own section. --24.67.224.188 (talk) 00:10, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

I understand where you're coming from, but its commonly seen as an expansion pack. If you look at other games that did this, for example Kingdom Hearts and its Final Mix, they're both in the same article. Its a matter of getting enough sources and out of universe information. I personally think its better off here. Zemalia (talk) 03:08, 7 December 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure if you guys used this reference, buuuuttt...: http://www.siliconera.com/2007/10/23/second-voice-actor-slips-persona-3-fes/

) Prince wasn't the only one. I would think this would make a decent reference in itself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.188.35.2 (talk) 04:30, 25 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm adding in the official US boxart to this section. If anyone is against it, state it and we'll chat it over. ThatDudeOverThere (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 04:55, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

WP:VG assessment

This article is still Start-Class, but is very close to B-Class and is definitely within the range of GA. With that in mind, here are some ideas to improve the article further. The main problems with this article aren't difficult to fix; they just need doing:

  • Lead needs expansion per WP:LS: summarise the entire article in two or three paragraphs.
  • Article needs more citations: WP:CITE. This game is relatively new, so finding sources from sites such as GameSpot and IGN shouldn't be difficult.
  • Per WP:MOS, in-line citation thingies should come after punctuation, not before. Example: an "All-out Attack" can be performed[3], where all party... should be an "All-out Attack" can be performed,[3] where all party... Done Someone another (talk) 21:21, 18 December 2007 (UTC)
  • Gameplay is a good length and it's good to see you have a fair use rationale; however, there are a couple of problems with this section:
  • Plot section needs expansion to summarise the entire story. Walkthroughs (from reliable sources, like GameFAQs and IGN) can be used as sources. In-game dialogue can also be used, but keep the use of this at a minimum. Development and Reception sections could also do with expansion: to get an idea of what to include look at the articles listed here.
  • Try to keep the lists down to a minimum: normal paragraphed prose looks and reads much nicer.
  • One- and two-sentence paragraphs make the prose quite choppy and difficult to read. You can solve this problem by merging/splitting paragraphs accordingly.

To get to B-Class, all this article needs is more screenshots, expansion in the relevant places and more citations. Hope this helps, Una LagunaTalk 11:59, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
