reference to voting against equal rights

[edit]

The reference to voting against equal gay rights is unfair and poorly sourced. Can it please be removed?

It sources Public whip but that website shows only one vote in 2000 when she voted against and that she was absent for the other seven votes against which it is assessed.

In fact as this reference shows:

http://www.theyworkforyou.com/lords/?id=2002-01-25a.1691.3

she was one of the first Conservatives to speak in favour of civil partnerships for same sex couples.

So could this record please be corrected? —Preceding unsigned comment added by BremnerDen (talkcontribs) 16:43, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reference to her voting on gay rights accurately represented the summary on Public Whip, which is a frequently used source for such statements, and is therefore worthy of inclusion. If that summary could be clarified by a balanced commentary then I suggest editors add one, rather than simply removing information that might be of interest to readers. This information is relevant to the article as she has adjudicated on cases concerning gay rights, for example in her work for the PCC.129.11.76.229 (talk) 15:26, 7 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Neutrality?

[edit]

It would appear that Peta Buscombe has employed a PR firm to edit this article and all of their edits are designed to make her role in the phone hacking scandal less prominent.

>I agree. I have noticed that many of the edits move the focus of blame for phone hacking from Buncombe herself to the PCC more generally, and often suggest that the PCC wasn't given enough power rather than it being ineffectual at using the power it was given. This seems a subtle plan to water down the controversy around the actions of Peta Buncombe. This page is about Peta Buscombe, not the PCC. Sources and quotations should focus on her role personally. I also think that her role in the NOTW phone hacking controversy warrants a subheading and section of its own.151.9.248.58 (talk) 10:48, 10 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
