Additional info[edit]

On Pete's program Monday the 23rd, fill-in host Gene Burns held an on-air Irish wake for Pete, from 1 to 4 PM. I've downloaded the MP3s, and will be listening to it again for additional information about Pete. -FeralDruid 19:55, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I've mailed KGO for a publicity still and permission to post it to Wikipedia. -FeralDruid 19:59, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I listened to Pete's show for nearly 6 years, or since late 2001. I have a number of his shows taped. I do know a fair deal about his political stances etc. and some other miscellaneous info. I edited the entry about his last broadcast because the original made it sound as if he invited people to talk about their surgical horror stories, which wasn't the case. Also, concerning the Dufty issue, Mr. Dufty himself the day after Pete made his comments emailed Pete saying that he disagreed with those calling for his resignation, if I find my tape of that show I'll quote the email directly.FourtySixNtwo 04:15, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Only, that's exactly what he did do during his final broadcast -- ask people to call and share their surgical horror stories. Gene easily topped the callers, telling of how he had his neck broken intentionally, and had to remain conscious during the procedure. -FeralDruid 04:30, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I question whether the dufty incident even warrants inclusion. it was a minor dustup, lasted a few days in local news then was over. daily SF politics as usual. it's hardly a significant notation to his wikibio. Anastrophe 04:39, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It was but one of many instances where Pete ticked people off -- it's the nature of being a talk show host. -FeralDruid 04:43, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Dufty issue may have been a minor "dustup" but I think it's important to include it as it was an interesting incident in his career that could have had him thrown off the air. As for the edit I made, I believe they were discussing anesthetic during Gene and Pete's conversation, local anesthetic versus the other kind. Remember in Pete's opening, after talking with Gene he said "We're talking about ME today folks." If you like you can change it back or perhaps include the nature of some of the more scary stories. I wanted to include some of his political stances on certain issues as well as a paragraph or two about what his show was like. I'll have to look at other bio's for examples. Pete also had a Psychology degree or something like it. Also, they've recently started a journalism scholarship in his name. FourtySixNtwo 17:29, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vietnam War service[edit]

Although Wilson served in the military during the Vietnam War era, no reliable sources found as of yet state that he served in Vietnam. Accordingly, Category:American military personnel of the Vietnam War was removed from the article for now until a reliable ref is found. Also, the article does not include his branch of service. It would be helpful to add this information (I could not find any info about what branch he served in). Semper Fi! FieldMarine (talk) 11:37, 31 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
