Use of primary sources in biographies and replacement of critical summaries from reliable sources with grossly misleading non-neutral summaries.[edit]

It seems very sad to find that an educational website like Wikipedia should have serious problems in dealing with the biography of an educationalist. Let's try and get it right ..and that means following wikipedia biography of living persons (WP:BLP) rules. I work mostly on political biographies and try to provide the right of reply that BBC, Telegraph and other reliable sources include. Irrespective of viewpoints, WP:BLP rules work well so long as people remember they are writing an encyclopedia, not a hagiography.

  • The sentence The investigation was completed and published in February 2014; the audits identified areas for improvement however confirmed there was no fraudulent or profligate activity seems completely at odds with the references.
  • The statement Birkett transformed education and lives across Luton and beyond, driven by his belief that every person should have access to a great education regardless of where they live or how wealthy they are. appears to come from a primary source and my request for a citation has been removed.

I note Teraknor has also complained about removal of information. I also note User:Vapour complained about the lack of proper sources on the Sutton Trust which supplies references for this article. BLP's MUST use reliable sources, of which the latest appears to be this. I propose reverting to User:Teraknor's version of 18 March and getting it up to standard. Any comments? @Pablo1979:, @Bgwhite:,@EducationHoM: @Teraknor: @Pasco2013: @Joenicell: @Lugnuts: Given a "dubious" template removal and replacement of reliable source material by primary source hagiographies, written by WP:SPAs, I think it best to revert to an earlier version and update from there on. I note others have complained & welcome constructive editing but if reliable sources are replaced without discussion I will ask for the article to be protected. Re-insertion of hagiography material on June 12 2015[edit]

EducationHoM I note that the hagiography which I complained of in March 2015 and subsequently rewrote was restored on June 15th. Reliable sources have been removed without any reference to the talk pages –just a nonsensical edit description of the deletion as “Contextual historical references. “ Please do not do this. One extra line has been added where the subject’s denial of any responsibility is taken as sole proof of innocence and described accordingly. This looks like a classic case of a wp:spa and WP:!HERE. I want the article to be fair and accurate, please discuss on the talk page before changing as otherwise I will ask a third party to look at your editing track record. EducationHoM has offered to co-operate on this biography. I suggest he provides non-controversial factual information if possible e.g. date of birth -and other material, dates awards etc from third party sources such as ofsted & local newspaper reports etc. in a neutral point of view way avoiding wp:editorialising. I agree information from articles about the academies should not be included unless the article references him and will help in any way I can. JRPG (talk) 13:59, 15 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
