Fischer & Biyiasas

[edit]

Where's the refs?

Not up to Wikipedia standards, these naked assertions (Fischer stayed with ~, Fischer won every game, Fischer's quality of play, etc. etc.)

If Chessgames.com kibitzing is supposed to be the ref, then the ref itself is too vague (without specifically naming comment, which is probably too much akin to hearsay to be a proper ref anyways). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.237.103.173 (talk) 16:41, 12 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Early years

[edit]

The "early years" history given here matches what I have read elsewhere over the last several decades, but it needs to be scrutinized. I personally knew Peter Biyiasas here in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada as a good friend in school from Grade 7 (Sep 1962, Hugh John Macdonald Junior High School) through mid Grade 11 (Dec 1966, Daniel McIntyre Collegiate Institute (Senior High School)), when his whole family moved to Vancouver in that month. We kept a bit of communications going over the subsequent years, and I watched him perform at the 1974 Pan American Tournament here in Winnipeg. Peter was very active in chess throughout those Junior and Senior High School years, winning some local tournaments and routinely beating us schoolmates during school lunch hours. Surely all this is part of his "early years" in chess? And in any case, "grew up in Vancouver" is at least partly incorrect. As for references, there might be a bit in the school yearbooks and the Winnipeg Free Press archives of those years. HWSager (talk) 20:38, 16 February 2020 (UTC)HWSager, 16 Feb 2020[reply]
