Abbey Clancy, a model (of what isn't clear), has been kept out of Crouch's infobox, as well she should be. She is only his bit of fluff, his arm candy. Far too many wives of famous people make it into Wikipedia simply by being their wives. - This is really not relevant and shouldn't be in the article. If you listed every vaguely dubious goal under every player's profile it would be a pretty high percentage of every goal scored. Picture of Peter Crouch[edit]

Why not put a picture of Crouch in the Champions League jersey, instead of the England jersey which is like being dominated by Owen and Rooney more often than any other English strikers? As far as the image goes.. The current one was uploaded by me, and taken by my mate (same goes for most photos of the Liverpool squad). Robot Dance[edit]

Not sure if a mention of Crouchy's robot dance celebration of his 2nd England goal is worthy of entry in the encyclopaedia (although if someone can work it in successfully that would be great), but the great moment needs immortalising, so I’ve made this edit to the discussion page. Native of Cheshire[edit]

I just noticed that this catagory was removed for the reason "he never really lived there for very long". I don't believe this is a good reason. Would you count Ryan Giggs as a native of Wales? Look back through the article history. I'm sure when the "Rodders" nickname was listed I had put a reference with it from a national newspaper. Has the toss of a coin decide the winner in a knockout phase match in a World Cup? I was under the impression that previously they replayed tied matches if extra time produced no result. Possible medical condition - relevant?[edit]

As an anonymous editor just removed (because of weasel words):

  • Some medical observers have speculated that Peter Crouch's height and unusual physique may be attributable to the genetic condition Marfan syndrome[1]. This is merely an unconfirmed rumour at present.

Many tall people are generally 'lanky'so I don't know why everyone is saying his physique is unusual and as for his height - yes he's tall but it's not like he's the tallest person ever, many of my friends are 6ft odd and of a similar build! It is not a case of just being tall and lanky. Marfanoid individuals have certain characteristics which Peter Crouch shares including a long arm span and certain types of facies. This is not true, Marfan comes in many severities, and people with aortic problems (common heart-attacks aren't the usual problem) are currently much easyer to monitor due to better equipment than in the 70's-80's and may be partially fixed with composite graft surgeries. Of course, if Crouch had had a graft surgery that would be visible. I'm not certain Crouch has Marfan, although he could well fit the bill. In fact if you google on it, it is weird he has never denied it being such a widespread rumour anywhere if he does not have it. Like many illnesses Marfan has a wide sprectrum of severity. If Crouch does have it then he would be pretty near the low end of the spectrum. Abraham Lincoln had it and stood under 6ft 4. However as it is pure speculation I wouldn't include it. SenorKristobbal 11:08, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unless he says publically that he has it, no mention should be made here or on the marfan page. Plenty of people have his appearance without having marfan. I do not agree with the previous poster who says "it most probably is true".

Chelsea fan[edit]

I've just reverted a bit of trivia info that says Crouch was a ballboy at Chelsea as a boy and is a Chelsea fan and he said so in a piece in the Times, but it didn't include the reference. I just did the google search site:timesonline.co.uk crouch chelsea ballboy and came up with this The Big Interview: Peter Crouch. It says:

I don't have a source (although I'm sure one can be found if you Google around), but I remember that the tour was in the US as Scott Carson had just been called up for the first time, and it was said he had a choice between flying out for the tour or going on Liverpool's open-top bus ride after winning the Champions League (in the end I think he did both). I also know that teams often tour the US and play other teams touring the US. As I say, I don't have a source off the top of my head, but I'm sure one can be found. It was a 2 game tour of the US. They played the US in Chicago and then Columbia in New York. I was at the Chicago game and I swear Crouch played that game (3 days before Columbia...), so I think this is wrong, but I can't find a reference. As I looked over the diff I was thinking to myself, "yeah I guess most of that could have been cut out", but then noticed that it's just been moved to one huge robotic-dancing section at the bottom. Chelsea fan as a kid[edit]

Crouch said today he was a QPR fan as a kid, he just went to chelsea games with his dad. He then went on to say he's now a firm Liverpool fan.


Meanwhile Crouch is keen to put one particular erroneous story to rest that circulated from a story on television this week which claimed that Liverpool's top scorer is a Chelsea supporter.

"I was stitched up a bit with that," Crouch admitted.

"When I was younger my dad did take me to see Chelsea, but when I was with my mates I was more a QPR fan, so it's not like I was ever a big Chelsea supporter.

"You've also got to remember the Chelsea back then was nothing like the Chelsea it is now. I remember going along there when they were in the old Second Division.

"Put it this way, there's no question where my allegiance is now. I'm firmly in the red camp. The same applies to my dad.

Soccerbase[edit]

Adding TV work[edit]

I have added a section for his BBC1 TV Programme, Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, as it is high-profile and an eight-week prime-time show. There wasn't an obvious place to slot it in, so it could perhaps in due course be moved to a separate section-heading, if someone has any other TV work to list with it. The top of the article calls him a television personality and former footballer, so we should surely start to include that aspect now!
