Radio appearances

[edit]

I know that PG has been on Radio 4 a number of times over the years. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to find these appearances? -- Ash (talk) 17:14, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notable?

[edit]

No disrespect to the subject or compiler of this entry but I would really have to question whether this person has achieved sufficient distinction to deserve his own Wikipedia page. There are a lot of lexicographers and linguists out there. Of course there are no specific Wikipedia:Notability guidelines for lexicographers, but if he were an academic I suggest he would not make it. Also I suggest there is little enough independently verifiable info to make a worthwhile page (which is a clue in itself). Flapdragon (talk) 11:27, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Many good points; in response, I would say - the subject's television work is probably unusually extensive in the field of Lexicography; he does tend to get trotted out by the OED on TV and especially on radio when they have something to say (or the media has something it wants to consult them about), though he is not the only one in the pool of "usual suspects"; and of course his 2016 history of the OED is a significant work. (Finally: though I have contributed various edits to this page, I did not initiate/originate it. Nor did the subject.) G6JPG —Preceding undated comment added 13:07, 11 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
