East German Drug Regime[edit]

This article completely lacks a necessary mention of this athlete's participation in the DDR drug program and its role in her success, and with appropriate references her life afterward if available. In film documentaries many of them defend their record on the basis that they worked hard for their success, which is undoubtedly true, but this does not mitigate the fact that their hard work would have less well rewarded without the assistance of the drug program. There were no DDR athletes in this era in sports such a athletics or swimming that were not assisted by drugs. It was a mandatory part of being allowed to compete for the DDR on the world level.
