Campaign launch in August 2019[edit]

@JesseRafe: Hey Jesse! I had added a Template:cn to August 2019 as the start date for Forrest's campaign because, while I'm pretty confident that's when it started, I couldn't actually find a source for it. Do you think it's covered by a different source or just unnecessary? Thanks! Brooklynpedestrian (talk) 23:29, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thanks. I removed the tag and with it the original prose because it said "decided to" or something to that effect, which seemed an unlikely standard to get into the mind of a candidate with a citation. I left the date without the cite because the smell test fits the narrative of the election cycle. We can just remove it if it's controversial or unfounded, I figured it came from somewhere and someone originally wrote "decided to launch" and someone else tagged it, so I threw them both out. Whether her campaign launched in August or not, is verifiable somewhere, but we would need a direct quote about when she decided to do so to use the original phrasing. Thanks for that, Jesse, the change in phrasing makes total sense. I Googled for a source to refresh my memory and remembered that I did find this Brooklyn Eagle piece from August 2019 that mentions Forrest is launching a campaign, but it doesn't specifically state when she launched it, i.e. Was it August? Was it July? Earlier? Not sure if we should remove the date altogether or leave the WP:CITENEED. Brooklynpedestrian (talk) 20:24, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I just think it's not a contentious item, and that the Eagle ref for August even without a specific launch date is probably good enough for justifying August. Or it can be removed, or we can look into campaign contributions or state registration if need be, but I don't feel like doing those latter ones. Fine with anything, "launched in Augst" with a CN, with Eagle ref, or with no ref, any of those seems right, because it's not a question of fact whether she launched her campaign, just of when, and nothing important hinges on that when. Entire entry should be removed, this person is wholly irrelevant outside of a very small fraction of NYC, let alone the state, country, world. Imagine if we had entries for every assemblyperson in NYC, the state, country, world, LOL, it'd be ridiculous, and we don't for that reason, well, except for some like this person who obviously is using wikipedia as a campaigning tool, I mean read the entry, sounds like a freakin campaign ad bio! 2600:1003:B059:9BA:A0BF:71BB:2040:6A6A (talk) 01:48, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
