I was a student at Lafayette High School with Phil Seuling. Phil, along with Ronnie Sorvino, brother of Paul Sorvino, and myself belonged to the school's Mrs. Mackey's "Speaker's Bureau." Phil and Ronnie co-starred in Thorton Wilder's "Our Town" in our senior year. Phil was brilliant, completing the New York Times crossword puzzles in record time. He was the "life of a party"--always humorous and loved the comics. His sister, Barbara Seuling, is a well known children's author and lives in Burlington, Maine.

I understand he was married to Carol Seuling and has two surviving daughters. He is missed.

Lafayette High School

[edit]

I knew Phil Seuling when he was a student at Lafayette High School. He was in Mrs. Mackey's Speakers' Burea and starred in the production "Our Town." He lit up the room when he entered--usually with a grin and speaking loudly! We all loved him.

Later, Phil went on to Baruch College briefly before joining the service (extenuating circumstances). At this point I lost track of Phil, while sad he is dead, am not surprised at his success.

I believe Phil did one of the voices in the movie Fritz the Cat... can we confirm and add that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.230.94.212 (talk) 10:06, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Pace of direct market growth

[edit]

While Mark Evanier is quoted that the direct market in its first year (circa 1974) grew to being 25% of the market. Bob Beerbohm in the 2000 Comic Book Artist piece says Marvel President James Galton in 1979 informed the comic book retailers the direct market as of then only constituted 5% of their comics cash flow. Should this disparity be cited? Dgabbard (talk) 22:14, 21 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
