Photochemical oxidation (PCO) in air purification

How does photochemical oxidation (PCO) fit into this process? It seems like it should be discussed in Photocatalysis#Applications. Vizjeu (talk · contribs), who did substantial work on the related Photoelectrochemical oxidation article, any thoughts? PCO is discussed in Air purifier. Photocatalysis, what is it?

At least if I am reading those definitions correction and assuming we are going to follow IUPAC's definitions (not required), most of this article is off-topic. This is what IUPAC Goldbook says Photocatalysis: "Change in the rate of a chemical reaction or its initiation under the action of ultraviolet, visible or infrared radiation in the presence of a substance—the photocatalyst—that absorbs light and is involved in the chemical transformation of the reaction partners." Photocatalyst: "Catalyst able to produce, upon absorption of light, chemical transformations of the reaction partners. The excited state of the photocatalyst repeatedly interacts with the reaction partners forming reaction intermediates and regenerates itself after each cycle of such interactions." (emphasis added). Perhaps, operationally (i.e. colloquially) photocatalysis usually means that the reaction is stoichiometric in photons, and the catalyst's excited state acts once, de-excites, and then accepts another photon. This looser meaning differs from that devised by IUPAC.

One more thing: when discussing catalysis, we need to give the balanced equation for the reaction that is being catalyzed!

Wiki Education assignment edit results

I have made several changes to the article, including making the lead more introductory of elements present in the article, moving and overhauling the homogeneous catalyst section, editing, adding sources and correcting equations in the heterogeneous catalyst section, rewriting the filtration membrane application section to include detailed information, and renaming the construction section to air filtration to make it more relevant to the information provided in the section. This work was done in this sandbox prior to edits done on the article, which included a peer review critic.
