Phreaknic isn't the second longest running hacker con.

Summercon is the oldest. It isn't happenning this year but I wouldn't exactly consider it dead yet. Pumpcon, Defcon, Hope, and What the Hack are all older. Pumpcon may still be running but I'm not sure. They ran it last year.

Phreaknic's claim to fame, as with se2600, is its the first con of this sort with a really regional focus instead of a national or international focus. It started a trend of smaller, local cons around the country. But its not the second oldest hacker con by far.

Well, Phreaknic is one of the oldest continually-running hacker cons. The difference, really, is that HOPE doesn't happen every year. Both Summercon and Pumpcon appear to be defunct, and Summercon was not continuous anyway; they've skipped a few years. I've also corrected the attendance totals. Phreaknic is hoping to surpass 400 attendees in 2006, but we're still under that mark. Also, note that the sponsoring organization for Phreaknic, Nashville 2600, is now a 501(c)(3) public charity. We believe that is also a first for hacker cons. -- 205.241.238.3 21:19, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Attendance for 2006 was right around 350 attendees, although we seem to be growing at a rate of about 30 people per year. Corydon76 23:58, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
