Buskers

[edit]

Pier 39 is known for buskers, and a collection of famous buskers such as the 1970's human jazz jukebox which was a cardboard box painted like a jukebox with a slot for money, then a horn would stick out to play jazz... another 1970's opera singer would sing as the boats came in with tourists and then two girls would run around with hats jingling coins for tips. The latter would make $300 an hour. Photos of buskers and information about them would be excellent.

It would also be great to see a photo of Pier 39 from before it was turned into a shopping area. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chris Fallis (talkcontribs) 20:50, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My wife's late uncle was a longshoreman who retired in 1968. He said he worked for Matson Navigation Company at Pier 39. We have records from his employer but no documentation or photos showing Pier 39 was a Dock (maritime). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 214.13.130.104 (talk) 13:52, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
