Common name

[edit]

Pike o' Blisco and not Pike of Blisco is the more common name of this mountain, despite the latter usage on OS maps. Anyone object to an article name change? Pikemaster (talk) 21:21, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

True! I have never heard anyone 'say' Pike of Blisco but that might be because we all read AW's Pictorial Guides. Are there any other sources that document the real name. It's a bit like the big hills to the West. We all say Skaw Fell but we write Scafell.
Yes, 'Pike Of Blisco' just sounds wrong, and I've never heard anyone say it either. I've been reviewing my books and so far I've only found Pike o' Blisco. I'll look further into it. I do find the article quite jarring the way the 'Of' terminology is used throughout. Pikemaster (talk) 11:33, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I normally leave a generous week to give people a chance to comment.Since it's only me and thee, I'd consider initiating a name change tomorrow. OrewaTel (talk) 20:12, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@OrewaTel: after a lengthy wiki-break, I've done it. Thanks for your support. Pikemaster (talk) 20:13, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
