Song use in political campaigns[edit]

I had just heard an interview with John with Terry Gross on NPR in which claimed he never asked the McCain campaign not to play the song, but instead sent them a letter indicating they should be councious of the song's message.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.99.55.57 (talkcontribs) 20:49, 24 August 2010

That's a good distinction to draw; I've changed the article wording to reflect the publicist's letters more accurately. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 18:42, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Pink Houses = Seeger's Little Boxes 25+ years later[edit]

I'm not having much luck finding a source to cite, but I heard an interview (not sure if it was with Mellencamp or an 'expert' on rock music) on the radio in which it was stated that "Pink Houses" was a cynical follow-up to the early-60s satirical hit Little Boxes. Reading the lyrics with relevant historical knowledge, it definitely looks true -- someone that knows the appropriate music-industry magazine archives to search should be able to find something on it. —Xyzzy☥the☥Avatar 00:50, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
