This stub needs to be rewritten to include some standing objections to Plymouth that have been stifled by the Ubuntu developers since Plymouth's release. These include the fact that it was designed to not work properly with closed-source drivers, that it was foisted onto the community without any meaningful consultation of the user base, the fact that several key parts of the Ubuntu boot process had to be rewritten so users couldn't solve crashes just by uninstalling it, all the brainstorm ideas of "Go back to usplash because its stable" or "Go back to xsplash because it doesn't crash the boot process" that were rejected as "not ideas," and that it was intended to make people use a driver- Nouveau- which is still not ready to replace nVidia's closed-source driver and probably never will be?
As written, it reads like it was written as an advertisement more than an article. --69.151.247.139 (talk) 23:27, 1 January 2012 (UTC)

Naming
[edit]I've been able to confirm the meaning of the name via email with Kristian Høgsberg. I found his email address in the manpages credited for the name. How would I cite something like this?
