  - "Molly" by itself is a common name for Poecilia sphenops. Using molly as the article title is still ambiguous. As far as WP:PRIMARYTOPIC applies, it's better to use a title without a parenthetical disambiguator when a non parenthetical title is available (the Naturalness criterion of WP:AT). Spelling[edit]

Is "Dalmation" the correct spelling? I would think not, but there are almost as many Google hits for it (19,700) as for "Dalmatian Molly" (22,000). Nick Number (talk) 17:53, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Poecilia/mollies/body shape[edit]

I'm very doubtful about this sentence: "All species in Poecilia are called mollies except for the Endler's livebearer (P. wingei) and the well-known guppy (P. reticulata) which have a distinctly different body shape from the rest of the genus.".

First, I think lots of other species are not called mollies, e.g. Poecilia picta is often referred to as the swamp guppy. As a university researcher on these species, I think many close relatives of P. reticulata are not called mollies (and sometimes called guppies). A reference would be nice, but at the least this statement is much too strong. Moreover, the body shape comment should at least clarify whether this pertains the male or the female, and also give a reference.
