Revert page title to "Next United Kingdom general election in Scotland"

[edit]

This page is described in both the UK wide and Welsh articles for the next election as the "Next United Kingdom general election in Scotland". In my opinion the existing section in the UK wide opinion polling article is sufficient, and a separate article is unneeded. This page includes more than just opinion polling so it would be better to rename this page. GamerPerson12345678 (talk) 14:02, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Next United Kingdom general election in Scotland's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "2021SPE":

  • From Opinion polling for the next United Kingdom general election: "Scottish Parliament election 2021". BBC News. Archived from the original on 11 October 2021. Retrieved 15 May 2021.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. Feel free to remove this comment after fixing the refs. AnomieBOT 15:46, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Target seats

[edit]

Soosider3 is insisting on a section on target seats in this article. Target seats (based on the last election result) are not polling. I am not aware of any other polling article that covers target seats. The material already exists at Next United Kingdom general election in Scotland and we shouldn't be duplicating material in different places. Bondegezou (talk) 13:33, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I do and will continue to do so. Target seats flow from polling, it is a natural extension of it. Really don't give 2 hoots what other articles do or don't do. Your logic is again flawed, as the site you mention has the same data about polling as other articles , so by your argument not okay to duplicate data about target seats but okay to share data about polling. Soosider3 (talk) 15:46, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Target seats do not flow from polling. The target seat info you have listed is derived from the previous elections results, i.e. not from polling.
I do not think that it's OK for Next United Kingdom general election in Scotland to share data about polling. That's why I have nominated this article for deletion. I commend WP:REDUNDANTFORK to you. Bondegezou (talk) 16:02, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It is not an improvement to a bad fork article to glue on another bad fork of tangentially-related material from another article. This material should not appear in this article (and in my view shouldn't appear in the other article either!). Ralbegen (talk) 16:34, 6 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
"The target seat info you have listed is derived from the previous elections results, i.e. not from polling." and polling is about the next election in that series, it is a rationale extension to compare polling with the last election.
So just to be clear your view is that there should only be one article containing polling data to cover the UK election, does that extend to one article for any election?, have I understood that correctly? Soosider3 (talk) 10:35, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You can discuss the AfD for this article at the AfD page. We are discussing here whether an article about polling should have details of target seats. Bondegezou (talk) 11:01, 7 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
