Placement[edit]

Is there a reason for this single being placed before "Creep" in the Radiohead singles chronology? It says on the article that it is the 2nd and Creep is the 1st, so I don't know which is correct. In any case, if somebody could make the alteration to the correct one, that'd be great. Sebrat 18:42, 16 August 2006

Tony Parsons[edit]

The title of this single was inspired by a TV show made by Tony Parsons on Channel 4's Without Walls strand. It claimed that pop is/was dead, eaten alive by its own commercial imperatives and machine-driven production. The show was quite controversial at the time and is referred to sympathetically by Ian MacDonald in the second (and subsequent) editions of Revolution in the Head: The Beatles' Records and the Sixties. I suspect Parsons' thesis appealed to Yorke & Co. back then...
