This Article lacks a history of the Airfield in Question. When was it constructed? What was it's state at completion? What were the improvements made whilst RAF Stanley and why were they removed? Benjym (talk) 17:45, 28 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dealt with above.
However, LAN's weekly flights to the Falklands from Punta Arenas go to MPA, not Stanley, don't they? I've put in a "citation needed" there in the meantime. Benjym (talk) 16:24, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm removing the reference to LAN's flights going to Stanley. These flight definately go to Mount Pleasant. Benjym (talk) 12:36, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Is the airport really referred to as Port Stanley Airport? The one local source linked from the page uses Stanley Airport, which would make sense as the Falkland Islands Government prefers Stanley to Port Stanley. Skinsmoke (talk) 11:48, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The name of the town since inception was officially Stanley but Port Stanley was and has been used interchangeably (both officially and unofficially). It is confusing I agree. The official name is in fact Stanley Airport, though Port Stanley Airport is also used. Wee Curry Monster talk 11:56, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
