Precedence[edit]

This article claims that the book this movie is based on inspired the book The Exorcist, however The Exorcist was published in 1971 but this book was only published in 1993. Vespine (talk) 09:21, 19 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is probably more accurate to say that "The Exorcist" was inspired by and "Possessed" was based upon a rite of exorcism performed by William Bowdern. The ritual performed by Bowdern predated "The Exorcist" by more than two decades, "Possessed," by four decades.R. Nozick (talk) 02:47, 7 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
